Right outside my window is a flowering bush. Lush green folaige and soft pink blooms fill one side of the bush. But the other side is sparsely dotted with weak, yellowing leaves and small, anemic blooms. I have watched the bush struggle through the long winter and noticed, to my horror, that the weak, diseased side was beginning to impact the healthy side. My only choice was to cut away the part of the plant which was stealing life from the other.
In a similiar way, there are things which invade your spiritual hearts and minds that attempt to sap the vitality and beauty from your walk with God. Things that compel you to focus on yourself rather than looking to God for peace and satisfaction. Thoughts of anger, regret, unforgiveness, bitterness, and fear. Emotions that fill your days with pain and steal the abundant life which Jesus died to provide.
Beloved, your winter has gone on long enough! Pray that God gives you the grace to cut away those negative thoughts and emotions which enslave you. And for the first time in a long time 'LIVE FREE!'
"One thing (you must) do, forget what is behind (you) and strain forward to things which are ahead. PRESS ON!"
Phil. 3:13-14.
